Shaping the Future: Introducing the Generative AI Course for Students and Teachers
At the Digital Technologies Institute (DTI), we are committed to making cutting-edge digital technologies accessible and exciting for young learners. As the world rapidly advances into the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we believe it’s crucial that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to understand AI to actively shape their future.
That’s why we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Generative AI Course, designed specifically for high school students.
This course is a reflection of our mission to simplify complex technologies and ensure that students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. Through hands-on learning and engaging real-world applications, the Generative AI Course brings AI to life in a way that makes sense for learners at all levels. We estimate that students would need 6-8 hours to complete the course.
Continuous assessment
A standout feature of the Generative AI Course is its use of interactive quizzes and qualitative feedback to enhance learning. Quizzes provide immediate insights into students’ understanding of AI concepts, helping them identify areas for improvement. Alongside this, students share qualitative feedback throughout the course, reflecting on their learning experience. At the end of the course, this feedback is played back to them, showing how their knowledge has grown. This reflection on their learning journey helps students appreciate their progress and reinforces the key concepts they’ve mastered. Students and their teachers can download this data.
What Sets the Generative AI Course Apart?
The Generative AI Course is not just another course. It’s an interactive and dynamic learning experience delivered through our MyComputerBrain™ platform, which has been specially developed to make AI education accessible, safe, and engaging. Here’s what makes this course truly unique:
1. SafeAI: A Secure Learning Environment
We recognise the risks that come with AI use, especially for young learners. That’s why we’ve integrated SafeAI into the course. Our proprietary Artificial Neural Network (ANN), embedded within the MyComputerBrain™ platform, allows students to explore AI in a secure, controlled environment. Students can experiment freely, knowing their privacy and safety are protected. And when students close their browser window, the AI is deleted. It's as easy as that!
2. Building Strong Foundations in AI
We know that for students to truly excel, they need a solid foundation. That’s why our course begins with the fundamentals of AI, giving students an understanding of artificial neurons, neural networks, and the principles of machine learning. From there, we take students deeper into advanced models like Transformers and Stable diffusion, empowering them to understand AI at both an introductory and advanced level.
3. Real-World, Hands-On Learning
At DTI, we believe that students learn best by doing. That’s why the Generative AI Course emphasises hands-on, practical learning. Students engage in real-world applications of AI, including cybersecurity, medical simulations and image-generation technologies. Our goal is for students to leave the course not just with knowledge, but with the skills to apply AI to real-world challenges.
4. Ethics and Responsible AI
Recognising the profound societal impacts of AI, the course allows students to critically engage with issues around AI bias, privacy, and the importance of creating fair, transparent, and accountable AI systems. We take AI’s societal impact seriously, and we want our students to as well. By fostering a critical mindset, we ensure that students are not only skilled in AI but are also prepared to contribute to ethical and fair AI solutions in the future.
What Educators Are Saying
Educators have already started using the Generative AI Course in their classrooms, and the feedback has been incredibly positive. Sharon Singh, Head of e-Learning & Innovation at St John’s Anglican College, praised the course for its engaging, hands-on approach:
“The interactive elements of the GenAI course have truly captivated the students. They enjoy the hands-on activities, particularly when it comes to building and experimenting with neural networks. This course is proving to be a fantastic way to introduce complex AI concepts in an approachable and engaging manner. I highly recommend it.”
Teachers appreciate the level of support that the MyComputerBrain™ platform provides, offering detailed analytics on student progress, as well as a wealth of resources to make AI education as seamless as possible.
Why We Believe AI Education Matters
At DTI, we are passionate about preparing students for the future. AI is already reshaping industries across the globe, and students need to be equipped not just to navigate this world, but to shape it. The Generative AI Course ensures that students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills—key competencies that will be essential for tomorrow’s workforce.
Our course doesn’t just teach students about AI; it empowers them to become the innovators and creators of AI technologies. By introducing AI education early, we are helping students unlock their potential and preparing them for exciting careers in STEM fields and beyond.
